This palette can be used to create a brown smokey eye, or to brighten the eyelid and brow area with its highlights on the neutral yellow and peach pads. It is an all-mineral formula, which works well with mineral bases in your makeup routine, such as mineral foundation and sunscreen. Best of all, you won’t have to carry around separate compacts – it’s an all-in-one, multitasking makeup palette for the eyes.
Though this product is typically used on the upper eyelid and brow area, there aren’t necessarily ‘rules’ to go with it. Some have used it as an eyeliner, or even to darken grey hairs around the edges of the face. You can also blend its colours to create your own look, on any skin tone.
The formula does use mica, which provides a bit of shimmer. But it is mostly matte. As you can tell from its colour base, it is meant to provide that ‘natural’ makeup look, to enhance existing features.
However you want to use it, you can follow your favourite makeup tutorial to get an eye shadow or brow look that you want.
A few helpful things to know about this product:
Use this product by applying it a shade lighter than what you’re going for, since the colours will darken when used on your skin.
Being made of minerals, the pressed shades in these pads have been known to ‘powder up’ easily. Be aware that a little can go a long way when you’re trying to get it on your brush or finger (we recommend a brush). Be gentle!
Use its eye shadow and eye brow colours in combination with the other mineral colour palettes by Colorescience®, for an ultimate, blendable ‘natural’ look. This includes the Mineral Corrector Palette SPF 20 (to be used as a mineral-based concealer and enhancer, with neutral skin tones)
Don’t try mixing non-mineral sunscreen with mineral makeup, as the two don’t usually play well together. Colorescience® makes plenty of mineral sunscreen options, which are very well formulated to go on underneath makeup, without causing creases and ‘cakey-ness.’
You can also do your due diligence by applying sunscreen every two hours with the practical, Sunforgettable® brush. This can go over your makeup.
Notable skin care ingredients:
This is a paraben-free, mineral makeup palette, which is also free of talc. However, it includes other anti-microbial and preserving ingredients, to prevent bacteria build-up and lengthen its shelf life (as with most personal products).
Silica, dimethicone and methicone are used (depending on the shade), along with other beneficial ingredients that create thickness and spread. This helps the product stay put, and also acts as a skin smoother.
Skin conditioners and plant oils are used to keep your skin soothed and protected.
Slight UV protection is offered by the minerals used in this product. Though, this should not be your main source of sunscreen. Please use this with a mineral-based sunscreen as a base layer, after your typical skin care routine.
