GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation is a non-invasive, no-pain and no-downtime alternative to laser facials or pulsed light treatments. It can stimulate collagen production under the skin to achieve anti-aging caused by the sun (photoaging). It also is used for faster healing after ablative laser treatments. In short: it’s the most gentle way to get skin rejuvenation at our laser clinic in Surrey, B.C.
What is there to love about this cosmetic anti-aging technology?
This treatment is unlike laser skin regenerative techniques, such as with Fraxel® DUAL, or fractional CO2 lasers. LED Photomodulation does not use heat to damage cells in order kickstart a skin renewal process.
No heat means no pain, and no downtime after this cosmetic procedure. This makes it even less invasive than a plasma treatment.
And, since it uses special, LED energy panels to achieve a reaction under the skin, there is also no contact. Sessions can take just 5 minutes.
Compared to other laser clinic treatments, it’s also remarkably more affordable.
What can GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation be used for?
This mild, healing cosmetic treatment can be used for:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Redness and pigmentation
- Large pores
- Sun burnt skin
- Faster healing after laser skin rejuvenation
How does GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation work for removing wrinkles, and healing sun damaged skin?
LED Photomodulation invigorates the layers under the skin to start behaving ‘younger.’ You see, your skin naturally slows down the production of collagen and elastin as it ages – especially due to sun exposure. This type of aging is called photoaging, or photodamage.
LED Photomodulation aims to reverse the photoaging processes. It does this by stimulating skin cells with very low energy, but enough to cause a reaction. So, people see better results over time (about 4 months). But, to be truly effective, a regular schedule of treatments is recommended, especially given the low intensity of the treatment compared to heat-producing lasers. That said, people do see long-lasting improvements in their skin tone and texture even a year after treatment, when the desired effects have had time to subside.
With LED photomodulation ‘facials,’ no wounds are created to kick-start a healing process that creates new skin. And, no surgery is involved, such as with traditional face lifts (of course).
During a treatment session, your skin is placed in front of two LED panels (after cleansing and possible exfoliation). You are exposed to 2000 yellow pulsing lights for about a minute at a time, which completes one ‘cycle.’ You may go through multiple cycles in one session. Your eyes must be closed during treatment.
How many treatments does GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation require to see results?
For best results, we recommend 8 -10 treatments over a 2 month period (about once a week).
Please remember that we do require that you come in for an in-person consultation before your first treatment. This is to get an idea of what you want to treat, the severity of your case, and to make recommendations for a course of treatment that we believe will work for you.
Also, GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation is a very mild treatment. You won’t see results as dramatic as with the more intense lasers at our clinic.
If you are an existing client who has undergone more intense laser facials, we will let you know whether LED photomodulation is necessary to speed up your healing (which won’t have costs associated with it). We’ll also let you know how many sessions we believe you’ll need.
Is there downtime with GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation facials? What about side effects?
There is no downtime, and no side effects associated with GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation. You may apply makeup and return to normal activity immediately after treatment. No post-treatment regimens are necessary either.
What is the cost of anti-aging treatments with GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation at your skin clinic?
Standalone LED photomodulation sessions can cost $100 CAD per session. Or, you can opt for a package of 8 sessions for $600 CAD, or a package of 10 sessions for $750 CAD.
We also require an in-person consultation before treatment sessions. This consultation has a fee, which can be used as credit towards services at our clinic.
We usually use LED photomodulation for post healing after other treatments at our clinic. In those cases, it is not charged, and part of the included service.
