Our Surrey HydraFacial procedure is comfortable and relaxing. The HydraFacial procedure is a professional, medical-grade treatment for deep pore cleaning and gentle (yet visibly effective) face skin exfoliation. It removes dermal impurities (like dark spots or red spots), pimples, sun damage, dead cells and more – it’s like an all-in-one treatment for awesome facial results in a quick, 45-minute session. You’ll even see your old face ‘gunk’ in water after the session, for that extra-clean, satisfying feeling. Best of all, it’s done without downtime, on virtually any skin type. And, it can be combined with other beauty treatments.

Today, you can undergo HydraFacial™ at our skincare and laser clinic. Use it to get an extra glow before a big event, or to keep fine lines and wrinkles under control, on a monthly basis. We’re close enough to Delta, Langley, White Rock, Aldergrove, South Surrey, Langley and even Richmond, Burnaby or the Tri-Cities, for this high-tech, and non-irritating facial.

While it’s highly unlikely we won’t be able to use HydraFacial™ on your skin type or condition, the first step is booking an in-person consultation at our cosmetic clinic. This way, we’ll be able to take a look at your skin, do a technological analysis, and ensure we’re offering you the right treatment for the results you want. We encourage you to book today!

What is there to love about the HydraFacial™ pore cleansing and anti-aging facial?

You may have heard of microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and of course, regular ol’ facials at traditional spas. Each of these can be amazing, depending on the job they are meant to do on your face. But, with a HydraFacial™, you get a unique mix of these procedures, in one treatment. In effect, you get the super exfoliation of microdermabrasion, the renewing effects of a chemical peel (or even mild laser resurfacing), plus the extraction, cleanse, moisturization and protection of a spa facial.

Unlike many other ‘next level’ facial experiences at a medical spa, such as ablative laser treatments or peels, the HydraFacial™ procedure is virtually painless. It feels like a relaxing face-painting session (in ‘dabs’ and ‘strokes’). At most, you may feel a bit of tingling (the good kind!), from the acids used to cleanse your face, during various steps of the procedure. There’s no ‘sandpaper’ feeling, no poking and no pressure.

Afterwards, most people can put on non-comedogenic mineral makeup immediately, plan an evening out, or just resume their regular schedule. Besides the usual recommendation to wear sunscreen, there’s almost no downtime!

The HydraFacial™ wand can also be used to administer extra serums to the skin for added benefits.

What skin conditions can HydraFacial™ help to treat?

HydraFacial treatment with blue tip - featured image for Surrey HydraFacial provider

HydraFacial™ is excellent for a maintenance treatment on the following skin conditions:

  • Acne and oily pores, or large pores
  • Brown spots, redness & discolouration (from sun damage, aging or other skin conditions)
  • Flaky, peeling skin (such as from sun damage or chemical peels)
  • Mild wrinkles and fine lines anywhere on the face
  • Loose, sagging skin

The water-based facial procedure can also be used as a ‘boost’ to other aesthetic treatments offered at our skin clinic, such as Botox®, dermal fillers or GentleWaves® LED Photomodulation. It’s a simple, 30-45 minute add-on to your appointment, making your session all the more worth the trip!

Can HydraFacial™ be used on parts of my body other than my face?

Yes! The treatment can also be done on the neck, chest, back, arms and hands.

How does HydraFacial™ work to reduce wrinkles, acne, sun damage or skin impurities?

Below is a great explainer video!

HydraFacial™ is the only option for hydradermabrasion. It can’t be done at home, and no consumer product can match up to it. It is a patented technology used by professionals at cosmetic skin centres like ours.

HydraFacial HydroPeel Tips used during a professional facial

The various HydroPeel™ Tips of the HydraFacial™ machine are used during different stages of the treatment. The word “hydra” in the name refers to being a water-based treatment. And “facial,” no-doubt, refers to the fact that the treatment is usually done on the face. Though, it is much more than a facial, in the traditional sense. Being a professional-grade machine, it uses a proprietary mix of acids, cleansers and a wand with special ‘sucking’ ability, that doesn’t irritate skin (though, the most sensitive types may get some redness). Together, the cleanse and vacuum system is called Vortex-Fusion®, and they use HydroPeel™ Tips. The Tips are end-pieces that get attached to the wand, and change during treatment stages, to perform different functions.

For the patient, the points above are important because, together, they imply that the effectiveness of a HydraFacial™ treatment is less dependent on the cosmetologist performing the procedure, and more on the technology itself. While the whole system definitely requires training to use, its built-in ‘magic’ makes it so that far fewer pores will be missed, and a more thorough, even exfoliation can be done on the skin’s surface area.

The HydraFacial™ steps:

HydraFacial system machine isolated on white

A HydraFacial™ happens in three steps. The company behind the brand labels these as:

“Cleanse & Peel”

This step uses circulating water and suction to unclog pores and remove general impurities in the skin, like oil and excess residue from skin care products.

“Extract & Hydrate”

This is actually a 2-in-1 step. First comes a layer application of salicylic acid and glycolic acid. Yes, salicylic acid is the stuff found in over-the-counter acne face washes and toners. This is used to open up the pores for deeper unclogging, and to prevent those waiting-to-happen pimple breakouts. The intensity of the acids, at this stage, can vary depending on your needs and skin sensitivity. After setting for about 30 seconds, we move to the next stage. Still using the wand, moisturizing elements are added to the skin, for more glow, and to balance off the exfoliants that may otherwise leave you too dry.

“Fuse & Protect”

This is when the nourishment of the skin happens. Special, optional serums are infused into the skin. These contain antioxidants and peptides to give you that extra ‘boost’ of radiance.

Basic ingredients used during our Surrey HydraFacial™:

HydraFacial bottle solutions for professional hydradermabrasion facial procedures

Hydradermabrasion with our HydraFacial™ machine uses special ingredient blends to meet your skin’s needs. During the above steps, the machine doesn’t only deliver water to the face, with its proprietary Vortex-Fusion® suction. It is also delivering face-enhancing ingredients (they are in the bottles you see at the bottom of the machine). The products that get ‘plugged in’ to the machine, to mix with the deep, water cleansing technology, are:

Activ-4™ Skin Solution

For all skin types. This is an exfoliant. It contains glucosamine HCI, algae extract and lactic acid.

Beta-HD™ Clear Skin Solution

For all skin types, especially oily skin. This is an extraction solution. It contains honey extract, salicylic acid, spiraea ulmaria flower extract, willow bark extract and Tasmanian pepper.

Antiox+™ Skin Solution

For all skin types, especially with wrinkles and lines. This contains LMW hyaluronic acid, miehei mucor extract, green tea extract, arnica flower extract and red algae extract. It also contains the following peptides: copper PCA, magnesium PCA and Zinc PCA.

Antiox-6™ Skin Solution

For all skin types, especially sensitive skin. This contains LMW hyaluronic acid, vitamins A and E, white tea extract, rosemary leaf extract and horse chestnut seed extract.

Our Surrey HydraFacial™ booster options:

In the “Fuse & Protect” stage, the following optional serums are available. Most HydraFacial™ sessions only use one of the following, per your choice (though, we’re happy to give recommendations!):

Brightalive® Serum

This solution of peptides and glycerin is meant to brighten skin, and then prevent discolouration, such as brown spots. It also hydrates the skin.

Growth Factor Boost (HydraFacial CTGF™) Serum

This aids your skin’s ability to grow the cells you need for good dermal structure.

Dermabuilder™ Serum

Also using a peptide mixture, this serum is designed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture and tone.

Britenol™ Serum

This solution, made with Vitamin C and bearberry extracts, brightens brown spots, age spots and sun damage, for a more even skin complexion.

HydraFacial™ LED light therapies:

Blue and red led light therapy for skin healing and anti-aging or acne treatments with HydraFacial

While not part of the first three steps, HydraFacial™ also comes with the option to perform LED light therapies, with red and blue light. The red light helps with redness and aging. The blue light specifically kills the bacteria that causes acne. Overall, LED light therapy helps to ‘set’ the beneficial acids and moisturizers applied in previous steps.

Additional treatment + take-home Perk™ add-ons:

Perk lip treatment being applied to female patient

HydraFacial Perk add-ons are designed for different parts of the face, such as the lips. Finally, HydraFacial™ offers one last ‘boost’ to your ‘super facial.’ It’s called Perk™, and it essentially adds more antioxidants to your skin, in a post-wand treatment. Afterwards, the Perk™ bottle, with its roller tip used during treatment, is taken home with you for daily use. It should last for about a month, by the time your next facial is due.

The Perk™ products come in three different, bottled solutions. They are:

Face Nourishing Solution – for the face, with yeast extract, glucosamine and algae extract.

Face Antioxidant Renewal – for the face, with Vitamins A & E, white tea extract, horse chestnut seed extract, rosemary extract and hyaluronic acid.

Lip Revitalizing Serum – for the lip area, with peppermint oil, aloe leaf extract and peony extract.

Eye Replenishing Serum – for around the eyes, with green tea extract, arnica flower extract, oat kernel extract, citric acid and earth mineral peptides.

Each of the above, with their ingredients, help the skin in various ways. They act as antioxidants, hydration boosters, smoothing aids and more.

How many HydraFacial™ treatments will I need, to see results?

Perk treatment being performed in a cosmetic clinic

Many patients see results from HydraFacial™ immediately after treatment. Reduced redness, cleared up acne and complexion improvements are clearly visible. The results can last about 5 days.

However, HydraFacial™ works at its peak when used regularly on your skin. While you could come in twice a month, it’s usually recommended as a once-a-month treatment. Or, you could alternate it monthly with microdermabrasion. It is basically an alternative to traditional facial routines.

That said, there’s no reason you can’t give your face a one-time, ‘perk-me-up,’ for a special, upcoming event, like a wedding, party or even a date!

The company behind HydraFacial™ has published short summaries on studies done with their system. You can take a look at those below:

HydraFacial™ study on hydradermabrasion for skin rejuventation

HydraFacial™ study on polyphenolic antioxidants to reverse photoaging (using the Antiox 6 Serum™)

HydraFacial™ can’t be used on pregnant women, or to treat an existing skin condition that HydraFacial™ is not meant for. We’ll need to take a look at rashes, for instance, before suggesting an advisable solution. If that turns out to be your case, don’t worry – our on-staff doctors are licensed practitioners, and able to prescribe and help if necessary!

Please note that results can vary from person to person.

Is there downtime after HydraFacial™ treatments? What about side effects?

Generally, there is no downtime with HydraFacial™ treatments. Those with sensitive skin may experience some redness from the ‘sucking’ and ‘purging’ that happens during the procedure, to cleanse pores. If you typically react heavily to microdermabrasion or light facials, you may also have the same reaction to HydraFacial™.

That said, it is far from an ablative resurfacing procedure, or even a painful, pick-and-prod facial that results in redness and breakouts on ‘normal’ skin (if you know what we mean). HydraFacial™ is typically an in-and-out procedure, for most skin types.

Side-effects to HydraFacial™ would be quite rare. This may happen if you are allergic to say, the ingredients in the acids or serums. Pregnant women, or those with existing rashes or skin conditions (like rosacea) should not get a HydraFacial™ done. Other than that, it’s pretty much open to any adult, or teen with a parent’s permission!

What is the cost of a HydraFacial™ procedure at your skin clinic?

One HydraFacial™ session at our clinic, lasting roughly 45 minutes, starts at $275 for the basic facial passes. The price goes up depending on potential customizations you may want infused into your skin. For example, the optional serums, the LED light therapy or the Perk™ treatments.

HydraFacial™ is not covered by Medical Services Plan in B.C., nor any insurance provider. We can, however, let you know of treatment plan packages that may be available at our clinic.
