Thread lifts: a non-surgical cheek lift and wrinkle treatment
SOLVES:
- Drooping jowls
- Marionette lines
- Nasolabial folds
Lift and tighten skin without surgery!
Also known by names such as, “thread embedding acupuncture” and the “Korean thread lift,” a thread lift is a non-surgical way to tighten and lift skin, thus reducing wrinkles. We use the soft thread lift procedure in our Surrey clinic for those looking to get the appearance of a mild face lift, but without the investment or risks of surgery. Particularly, we use the dissolvable Silhouette InstaLift® product. Our doctor has been specifically approved to perform this technique, and can carry it out safely.
Unlike other thread lifts on the market, the Silhouette InstaLift® has been approved by Health Canada, based on evidence that it does increase collagen in the skin. It is also FDA-cleared, and is very popularly used in Europe.
Procedure Time: 45 – 60 min
Anaesthetic: Required
Treatment Recovery: +/- 1.5 weeks
Risks & Complications: Bruising, edema
Treatment Plan: +/- every 2 years

Why you’ll love Silhouette InstaLift® thread lifts
Dissolvable PLLA
InstaLift® threads are made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) – the same material used for long-lasting medical sutures. They are completely absorbable by the body. This avoids complications.
Dual action
The InstaLift® procedure doesn’t only give the skin an instant ‘tug,’ to tighten up sagginess, wrinkles and crepey areas. It also creates volume through collagen production.
No downtime
Thread lifts don’t require extensive downtime! You may develop bruising or a temporary lump, which should resolve in about a week or so.
Clinically-studied results:
In a study of 100 patients, 79% were happy with their results after 1 week following the procedure. At this point 82% said they would recommend it to others.
After 3 months, 83% said it helped to improve signs of aging. This sentiment only went down to 71% after two years.
Why us?
A thread lift is only going to be as good as the doctor performing the procedure. This is far from a ‘formulaic’ type of cosmetic treatment.
Our doctors understand facial structure, and how a lift is achieved for each person’s skin type, to get long-term results. We avoid patients looking ‘underdone’ or ‘overdone.’ Getting it ‘just right’ is a skill in itself.
To get the most natural-looking facelift possible, each thread is used to do a specific job tailored to each person. It’s a very detailed, thought-out process!
Before beginning any procedure, we do a thorough analysis of your skin, and gather detailed information on you. This is to learn how we can best suit your needs.
What is a Silhouette InstaLift® procedure like?
Tailor the plan
Each person’s facial anatomy is analyzed to determine the best point at which to target the thread lift.
Inject anaesthetic
Local anaesthetic is applied to help with any discomfort during the procedure.
Insert the threads
Long cannulas are inserted into the fat tissue under the skin, threading the sutures along their pathways.
Tug the threads
Sutures are given a ‘tug’ to tighten and position the skin.
Press into place
The cones attached to the sutures are pressed into place. This secures the skin’s new position.
Cut the excess
The excess length of the sutures are cut off, leaving no trace of the procedure behind.
How does a Silhouette InstaLift® work?
Lift skin tissue
InstaLift® threads include bi-directional cones to add extra strength to their lifting action.
Secure skin into place
Once inserted, the threads are ‘anchored’ into place. This keeps the skin secured to its new position.
Restore collagen
The body produces collagen around the cones. This adds volume, which helps restore youthfulness.
These threads typically dissolve within 12 months! You can still have plastic surgery after this procedure!
