Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Nuceiva and Boey: Making Sense of the Names

Just when you thought you knew the names, another one appeared. Botox. Xeomin. Dysport. Nuceiva. And now Boey. If your search has left you with more tabs open than answers, you are not alone.

At BC Laser & Skincare in Surrey, we offer all five of these neuromodulator brands. The important starting point is that they are distinct prescription products. “Botox” is not the name of every neuromodulator, even though people often use it that way in conversation.

First, name the product you mean

When you tell us you have had “Botox before,” we may ask whether you know which product was used. That is not a test. It helps the physician understand your treatment history accurately.

If you have a treatment record, appointment receipt or previous clinic’s written instructions, bring them along. The date and exact product name are more useful than trying to remember the colour of a box or a name you heard once.

Which neuromodulator brands do we offer?

Our available brands are Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Nuceiva and Boey. Tell us if you want to discuss a particular product when you enquire. Availability on the day and suitability for you should be confirmed with the clinic and your treating physician.

Each product has its own Canadian prescribing information. It is worth asking for the patient information for the exact product being discussed, rather than assuming an article about one brand explains every other brand as well.

What is Boey?

Boey is a newer prescription neuromodulator authorized by Health Canada on June 22, 2026. Its medicinal ingredient is trenibotulinumtoxinE. The Canadian monograph identifies it as a botulinum neurotoxin serotype E.

You can read Health Canada’s Boey listing and its Canadian patient information. If you have seen a headline about this newer option, bring your question to a physician consultation. Being new does not, by itself, make a product the right choice for you.

A unit is not a universal comparison

A particularly important detail in botulinum toxin prescribing information is that product units are not interchangeable. A unit number from one product should not be treated as a direct equivalent of the same number from another.

That is why an online “price per unit” comparison can leave out information you need. Ask which product the estimate refers to, how the clinician determined the plan and what the full quoted service includes. Do not calculate your own dose or conversion from a comparison chart.

Bring these questions into the room

“What exact product are we discussing?” Ask the physician to name it and point you to its Canadian patient information.

“What in my history affects this decision?” Previous injections, reactions, medications and health conditions belong in that discussion.

“What should I understand before consenting?” Ask about product-specific risks, instructions and alternatives, including choosing not to proceed.

“What does follow-up look like?” Ask who to contact and whether any review visits or additional services carry a fee.

You can be curious without making a decision today

There is no prize for arriving with a favourite brand. A useful consultation gives you space to compare information, ask the questions that matter to you and decide whether you want to take a next step.

Our neuromodulator injections are performed exclusively by Dr. Sachit Shah and Dr. Yasmin Garcia, both licensed physicians who continue their training in aesthetic medicine. You can meet Dr. Shah and Dr. Garcia before booking.
