Experiencing side effects post laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal can be a godsend for those of us who suffer from unwanted hair and can be an easy way to remove unwanted hair permanently. However, laser hair removal can come with some pesky post-treatment, short-term side effects that can easily be cured by taking the following actions and precautions.

1. Redness and irritation.

You may experience some redness, small bumps, irritation, and temporary discomfort directly after treatment on the treated area. This is temporary and will go away on its own within a few hours to a couple of days, but you can help soothe the area by using a cooling cream. You may also use ice packs or cold wash cloths after treatment to help reduce irritation and to cool the skin. Avoid using harsh cleansers or exfoliates on the area during this time to prevent irritating the skin further.

2. Slight discoloration.

You may notice that the area treated may be slightly discolored. This is a temporary side effect and will cured on its own within a week.

3. Acne

After your laser hair removal treatment, you may find acne has appeared on the treated area. This side effect is the result of clogged pores and can be prevented with the correct post-laser treatment regime. If you have sensitive skin, avoid putting on makeup directly after treatment to allow the skin to heal and breathe. If acne still occurs, it can be helped by using a triple-antibiotic ointment which you can find over-the-counter at your nearest drugstore. You should refrain from picking or popping the spots to avoid scarring.

Side effects pose very minimal risk and are only temporary. Any other sides effects or if you experience these side effects long-term, please contact us and we will assist you with the issue. Any other side effects are rare and must be consoled immediately.

Remember to always wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 and keep from waxing and plucking the hairs in your treated area to obtain maximum results from your laser hair removal treatments and to avoid side effects. Moles come in all shapes, sizes and colors and can make our lives harder. Not only are they unsightly, they can be painful, especially if they rub against your clothing. Since moles don’t just go away, unless you have them removed by a professional, they will be there on your skin forever. While the majority of moles are just harmless protrusions on the skin, some can lead to skin cancer. That is why they should always be assessed by a professional before removal.

On the first visit you’ll receive an evaluation of your mole and if any need to be checked further it will be biopsied after removal or you can be referred to someone who specializes in skin cancer if need be. Fortunately, this is not usually the case. Most are harmless and can be removed safely in one visit.

Now there is a way you can have your moles removed without the need for stitches or sutures. With laser laser mole removal, a laser is used and this targets the pigments in the mole. Since the body absorbs the broken up mole while it’s healing and the laser acts as a sealing mechanism for the blood cells, you don’t have to worry about going back to have stitches removed. In fact, a scab forms and falls off on its own. While you may have to use an antibiotic cream on the area where the mole was removed, you won’t have to keep going to the doctor to have sutures taken out and that saves you time and inconvenience. You may notice the skin becoming darker or reddening around the area where the mole was removed. Yes, all hyaluronics are compatible with each other and we often will use two different kinds in the same visit. Each one has its own special characteristics and a particular value called the G’(G prime). This refers to the cohesiveness and viscosisty of the product. The higher the G’, the thicker, more viscous the products and the more it stays in place and volumizes. High G’ products are for deeper filling and volumizing areas. Lower G’ products fill well and are softer and more flowing, thus better in lips and fine lines. Juvederm Refine or Ultra is a good example of this as is the new product Belotero which is meant to flow into superficial fine lines and lift those fine perioral lines, crows feet and sleep lines.
