Chemical Peels, Laser Skin Treatments & Microdermabrasion
Skin Peels are used to improve and smooth the texture of facial skin. Skin Peels can be chemical peels, mechanical exfoliation such as microdermabrasion or laser peels. Skin peels involve the use of a chemical solution or a laser to help shed dead cells at the surface of the skin by peeling. The skin left behind and regenerated is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the older skin.
Skin Peels can penetrate the skin to various levels depending on the method used. Microdermabrasion can be mild as usually seen in spas or deemed a Medical Microdermabrasion as it is set at a slight higher level than normal. Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation of the skin using a diamond wand or crystals but no chemicals are involved. See Microdermabrasion for more details about this procedure.
Chemical peels come in varying strengths and solutions and can penetrate to various levels depending on the solution used. Skin peels using chemicals can be mild, moderate or deep depending on your needs. At BC laser we use some of the most effective peels available. Lastly, Laser Peels use light based energy to remove dead skin cells and stimulate production of new cells. Laser peels include Laser Skin Resurfacing using Fraxel, Fractionated Co2 as they all work to remove skin layers to various depths. Of these Fractionated Co2 is the deepest and one of the most effective treatments available for the skin. The Fraxel laser can also be used for at several levels for laser peels.
