Volumizers and Fillers

Fillers and Volumizer Treatments in Surrey, BC

Do you find that your face is thinner and more droopy now that you are just a little older? If you want to restore a youthful fullness to your face, restore plump lips or soften those facial creases and wrinkles then dermal fillers and volumizing fillers may be your answer. Fillers have been called “liquid facelifts” because they offer a lunchtime solution without the downtime of surgery.

Fillers cannot help with sagging skin but can add more volume to the face and provide quick results with a much lower cost than surgery. The filler treatments are not permanent and must be repeated and the time of repeating varies depending on the person as well as the filler used in the treatment.

When a dermal filler like Juvederm is used with Botox the entire procedure is known as a Softlift. A Softlift can provide a soft and natural result without any downtime.

Other dermal fillers can also be used in conjunction with Botox to provide liquid facelifts. Our Monaco Makeover package uses fillers, Botox and a skin treatment to provide a complete rejuvenation of the face giving you a softer, natural and radiant face.

Filler treatments are performed at our Surrey clinic, near Vancouver, by Dr Shah. To see if dermal fillers are the answer for your loss of facial volume call our office at 604 580 2464 and book your appointment today.

Injections of pure fat are a more invasive way of filling in the lost volume on the face as the fat must first be harvested from liposuction.

Hyaluronic Acid fillers

These fillers are made from Hyaluronic acid, a substance that is found naturally in the body. These fillers last 6 to 9 months depending on the injection site and when combined with Botox may last as long as 12 months. At BC laser we use a wide variety of Hyaluronic acid fillers including Juvederm Voluma.

Injectors can use Hyaluronic acid fillers with relative ease and little problems. Any problems with Hyaluronic acid fillers can also be corrected with the use of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid.

Experienced Cosmetic Physicians today though use Advanced Injectable treatments to give better and more long lasting results. The main injectables used today are Artesense, Selphyl, Radiesse and Sculptra. These Advanced fillers all are considered to be collagen builders rather than hyaluronic acid type fillers. They work by actively rebuilding the collagen in your skin and results can last for upto 2-5 years in some cases. They tend to be fillers/volumizers that are used by experienced injectors as they require more skill in administering the injection compared to hyaluronic acid fillers.

Radiesse filler

This is a Collagen builder that uses Calcium Hydroxyapatite within a gel to inject nasolabial folds as well as for hand rejuvenation. This novel filler stimulates the production of collagen over time and the results last more than 12 months up to 2 years. Radiesse is used to treat the temples, sagging cheeks and nasolabial folds. The carrier gel in this filler lasts no more than 6 months at which time you may see a slight decrease in volume prior to increasing again as the collagen rebuilds.

Is also known as Poly –L-Lactic Acid. Sculptra stimulates fibroblasts in the skin to produce collagen, which in turn increases facial volume reversing the signs of aging. The results from Sculptra are not immediate and may take up to 4 weeks prior to noticing a change and will require 2 to 3 treatment sessions approx. 4-6 weeks apart. However the results from Sculptra can last from 2-4 years. Sculptra has had some negative press in the past but a few years ago the formulation was changed and any earlier problems are not encountered with their new formulation.

Selphyl filler

This has also earned the name “Vampire Lift” as it uses your own blood to create an amazing filler. This technology uses platelets found in the blood to create a platelet rich plasma or PRP which is then injected into nasolabial folds, under eye circles and other folds on the face. When injected , Selphyl activates new skin cell growth and over time, leads to a stronger collagen support structure. Selphyl can be used for acne scars as well as lines around the mouth and shallow wrinkles. The biggest advantage Selphyl offers is that it is created from the patients own body and that means that allergic reactions almost never occur. The results are gradual as new collagen is built and can last 2 to 4 years.

Artesense filler

This is another Collagen stimulator which has been regarded as a permanent filler. The components of Artesense have been used since 1936 but have been used in cosmetic medicine since 1989. More than 150,000 men and women have been treated with Artesense worldwide. Artesense is used mainly for acne scars and other scars or divots in the skin and even augmenting the nipple! Artesense is a long term collagen stimulator that lasts for 5 to 10 years.

So in conclusion, gone are the days when your only option for facial volume and reducing sagging was to use hyaluronic acid fillers with or without Botox. The advanced Injectable treatment include a range of collagen stimulators that are long lasting. These advanced techniques are generally offered by more experienced physicians as they require more skilled injection techniques in order to provide great results.

Other options for building collagen in the face are to consider treatments such as Thermage and Ulthera which stimulate collagen production through the use of lasers.

All of these treatments can be used to give brow lifts and increase facial volume without the need for surgery.
