Fraxel is a proven laser resurfacing technique that has been around for almost a decade, and is used to reverse the visible effects of aging and treat the following:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Surface scarring, including acne scars
- Pigmentation (age spots)
- Sun damage
- Actinic Keratosis (AK) – a common pre-cancerous skin condition
- Stretch Marks
How Does Fraxel Work?
Fraxel is a “fractional” laser treatment—one that treats small areas or fractions of the skin with heat. Fraxel light energy stimulates your skin’s natural collagen, rejuvenating skin cells below the surface and creating new skin free of scars, wrinkles and pigmentation problems. Fraxel only treats targeted problem areas – so the results are focused and effective.
How Long Does it Take?
A Fraxel treatment involves applying numbing crème to the skin, with about an hour of waiting time, and the laser treatment itself that lasts for 15-20 minutes. Most people require 2-5 treatments and must space the sessions 2-4 weeks apart.
What are the Benefits of Fraxel?
Fraxel is a non-invasive laser treatment that has virtually no down time. After treatment, the client might feel like they have a mild sunburn and the skin is red. However, makeup can be applied following the treatment.
The older lasers left skin raw, and were restricted to the face because of the better healing capacity of the face. Fraxel can be used anywhere on the body and successfully treats stretch marks.
Fraxel is safe to use on skin of color. Traditional laser treatments are not used on dark skin because pigment problems often result.
Several recent studies have shown Fraxel to be effective in removing precancerous lesions and reducing the incidence precancerous lesions.
Fraxel improves the texture as well as the color of the skin, and lasts for 1-3 years.
Fraxel refreshes and rejuvenates your skin with virtually no side effects, and is just one of many services we offer. If you live in the Greater Vancouver, BC or northern Washington state area, contact us for a consultation.
