For those who want to prevent discolouration and bring back their ‘glow,’ this is the ‘starter’ hyperpigmentation skin care kit for you. It combines the essentials to a bare-minimum skin routine, using high-quality, scientifically-backed, cosmeceuticals.
Learn more about how skin pigmentation forms, here.
When it comes to mild freckles, erythema (redness), leftover acne marks, and slightly dull skin tones, using the right products can sometimes be enough to improve the appearance of ‘problem’ areas, without the use of lasers.
That said, lasers can, almost always, do a better job! Do contact us if you’re interested in these state-of-the-art, hyperpigmentation treatments.
Even with laser treatments, however, a proper skin routine that is designed to both fight and protect from hyperpigmentation is paramount.
If you’re new to the world of skin care, don’t be overwhelmed! You can get started with just a few products. From there, you can eventually build up to a more advanced skin care regimen.
Still, even when you start with our ‘basics,’ know that these products are not just ‘any’ pigmentation treatments.
Some of these products have reported clinical improvement starting at just 4 weeks of use! Results advanced as study participants kept using the products. Significant change was seen at around 12 weeks.
It does take patience, and consistency. But eventually, your investment in your skin can pay off!
This package includes the following, full-sized cosmeceuticals for beginner hyperpigmentation treatments
In the order in which you should use them, this kit includes:
- Facial Cleanser by SkinMedica®
- Lytera® 2.0 Pigment Brightening Serum by SkinMedica®
- Retinol Complex 1, 0.5 or 0.25 by SkinMedica®
- Rejuvenative Moisturizer by SkinMedica®
NOTE: After purchasing this package, a skin care consultant will contact you with further information on how to use these products for best effectiveness.
But, please don’t forget your sunscreen!
When fighting hyperpigmentation, it is CRUCIAL to wear a broad-spectrum, high-SPF sunscreen daily, and to reapply it every two hours. This rule also applies on cloudy days, or when indoors (UV penetrates through windows).
Why? Firstly, hyperpigmentation is a direct result of UV exposure. Moreover, when using skin lightening and exfoliating ingredients (such as those in the products mentioned above), skin can become even more sensitive, and prone to hyperpigmentation.
In short: your skin discolouration can reoccur, or get worse, without a diligent sun protection routine!
You should also stay out of the sun during mid-day, and wear a wide-brimmed hat with large sunglasses.
We offer several high-quality sunscreens in our clinic shop. View them, here.

Regardless of the sunscreen you choose for a base layer, we also recommend the easy-to-use, Sunforgettable® Total Protection™ Brush-on Shield SPF 50 w/ EnviroScreen™. It is a powder sunscreen that can go on over makeup. This makes reapplication more feasible and practical, if you can’t wash your face every 2 hours to reapply ‘wet’ sunscreen.
A powder sunscreen should not be your base sunscreen.
