3 Things You Shouldn’t Do to Your Skin

Prevention is always better than cure. If you want to avoid skin problems, the best thing you can do is refrain from anything that might cause issues. Here are some things you should not do:

Using too many products
Both dermatologists we spoke to have seen patient after patient who assumes that if a little is good, more is undoubtedly better: Women who wash their face 4 times a day, exfoliate in the morning and at night, pile on 4 wrinkle fighters or blow right by the “apply a thin layer” direction on acne spot treatments and lay them on thick. “The only thing you’re going to accomplish is drying out and irritating the skin and making whatever problem you were trying to solve worse,” Day says. Picking, scratching, squeezing, and popping
Whether you’re tempted by a pimple, scab, or growth, the consequences of being hands-on with skin lesions can be ugly. “Picking will increase inflammation and may lead to permanent scarring,” says Kauvar. Scratching may appear to bring some relief to conditions like eczema, but it will ultimately aggravate the problem. “Scratching increases the sensitivity of your nerve endings and causes your skin to feel even more itchy,” explains Kauvar. Safer (and more effective) solutions include spot treating blemishes with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid and moisturizing skin daily to keep itching at bay. Source: Prevention

Leaving makeup on your face
Every woman has heard that you’re never, ever supposed to fall asleep with your make-up on, and it’s pretty easy to see why – you essentially have a whole layer over your regular skin, preventing it from breathing and resting at night. However, if your solution is just to wipe off your make-up quickly and hop into bed, you’re still not doing your skin any favours. It’s important to wipe off make-up at the end of a long day, yes, but you also want to cleanse your skin from all the icky things you encounter just going about your everyday life – all that air pollution in the city.  Source: TheTalko
