3 Skin Care Resolutions for the New Year

Start this year right by making significant changes in your habits. Create a list of your resolutions starting with the following:

Regular facials
For those prone to blemishes, cysts, whiteheads, or blackheads, a deep pore-cleansing facial by a skilled aesthetician is important. Skin-care products you use at home should help keep breakouts to a minimum, but nothing is more effective at cleaning out pores than manual extractions.

In a professional facial, an aesthetician will first exfoliate to remove surface dry-cell build-up, and then prepare the skin with steam and softening creams. Next, the pores are gently squeezed to remove old oil, congestion (called closed comedones), and blackheads, to make skin look smoother and clearer and mitigate breakouts. A finishing mask with cooling ingredients will make redness disappear and infuse hydration into thirsty cells. It’s best to get a facial every month or two for best results, but if that’s not possible, aim for one with the change of each season. If you’re on a budget, consider getting a facial at a school where aestheticians are in training (but are closely monitored by their instructors).  Source: Refinery29

Annual mole check-up
Having a dermatologist survey your body once a year is crucial, even if you’re diligent about monthly self-exams. “We look in more nooks and crannies than you ever will,” says Wexler. For convenience, group your annual appointments (physical, mammogram, dermatologist) at a time of (relative) quiet—after the holidays, or when the kids go back to school. “Before you leave the doctor’s office, make an appointment for next year, put a reminder in your phone, and ask the receptionist to follow up,” says Wexler. Consistent skin care routine
With so many skincare products on the market, it can be tempting to forgo your routine in order to try something new. But dermatologists recommend maintaining a consistent skincare routine for at least three months before making any changes to truly see results. Source: TheEveryGirl
