When it comes to skincare, we are inundated with different routines, rules, and products that might be overwhelming. In this short post, we’ll cover 4 tips to establish an effective skincare routine. Read on!
Resist the Temptation to Touch your Face
This is a very important step. You can transfer countless bacteria from your hands to your face just by simply touching it. Dirt can get trapped in your pores and then it can lead to a cluster of very unattractive pimples. If you have to touch your face, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water – or alternatively, use a face towel. Oil-absorbent paper also works well, but only use it one time, or you’ll transfer the oil and dirt back to your face, which won’t do anything to make your skin better. Source: WikiHow
Drink Water and Get Plenty of Sleep
Do you drink the recommended 8 glasses of water per day? Water keeps you hydrated and flushes toxins from your body. Make your own detox water by adding fruit, herbs, and/or cucumber to a pitcher of water and letting it steep. Detox water helps detoxify your cells and gives water a pleasant taste.
It’s called beauty rest for a reason: lack of sleep can cause skin to look sallow and dull. Skin produces collagen while you are sleeping, which cuts down on wrinkles. A good night’s sleep also reduces puffiness under the eye area. Source: ToiletTreeProducts
The entire routine should take place twice a day. In the morning, individuals should begin by washing their hands and wet their face with warm water. By using warm water, it helps the pores to open up. Afterward, apply the cleanser in a circular motion, working upwards. If the directions say to leave it on for a minute, let the cleanser sit on the skin and then remove it with a dampened cotton pad.
Once all of the cleanser is removed, individuals should use cold water to rinse the skin. This allows the pores to close up and form a barrier against dirt and pollution. Dry the face with a towel and get out toner and another cotton pad. Toner is used to re-adjust the skin’s pH so that it returns to normal levels. By doing this, it helps the skin to kill bacteria and resist bacteria. Place a little bit of toner on the pad and then wipe it over the face. Unlike the cleanser, toner does not need to be rinsed off.
The last step is to use moisturizer. You have to allow the toner to dry completely before they begin to massage moisturizer onto the face. For the best results, use a slow, upward motion. If too much moisturizer is used, the skin will feel oily. In these circumstances, the additional moisturizer can be blotted off of the face. When the skin feels too tight, more moisturizer can be added. Source: ConsumerHealthDigest
Makeup Safety Tips
Don’t share makeup or makeup tools, and use fresh applicators when trying on makeup in stores. Germs from other users can make you sick. Don’t apply eyeliner inside your lid because it may irritate your eye. And if you’ve had an eye infection, buy new makeup to avoid re-infecting yourself. Never put on makeup in a bus or car. A bump or swerve could cause you to scratch your eye or get makeup and germs in it. Source: WebMD
