5 Tips on Using Deodorant

You may not currently realize, but there are actually ways in which you can maximize the effects of using a deodorant! Check out these tips below:

Apply at the Right Time
“Most of these will work best at night,” Glaser says. The active ingredient has to go down into the sweat duct and clog it. If you apply it in the morning, when sweat volume is typically higher, it washes off. Source: WebMD

Be Prepared to Change It Up
Your body can develop resistance to specific formulas, so experts recommend switching brands every six months.
Scientists aren’t exactly sure why this happens, but it may be due to excess sweat breaking through.
You can also avoid resistance by applying antiperspirant at night, when you sweat less, anyway. Source: WikiHow

Consider Unscented Options
With your shampoo, conditioner, and perfume or cologne, you’ve already got a lot of fragrances going on. Try an unscented deodorant that won’t compete with everything. Source: TwentyTwoWords

Avoid White Marks
Leave as much time between applying your deodorant and getting dressed as you can – finding white deodorant marks on your little black dress when it’s too late to change is not an enjoyable experience. Source: Dove

Is There a Specific Angle That Works Best?
The armpit has many angles of its own, so there is no one angle of application that is best. What is important is thorough application to the entire underarm area. Many people quickly make a couple of straight swipes and go. The best method, whether using deodorant or antiperspirant, is to slow down and be sure to give the entire underarm area a uniform coat of product (for men, that means applying enough pressure to get through the hair that most guys have in their underarms).
