Are large pores on your face getting you down?
Unfortunately they could even get worse with age, when our skin elasticity declines. There is a great treatment for enlarged pores – a course of medical needling.
Medical needling in a way mimics the effects of fractionated laser technologies – creating microscopically small punctures all the way down to the dermis, the deep skin layer, where our collagen lives. The intentional gentle ‘injury’ induces thousands of tiny, controlled wound-healing responses in the skin.
Over time, this will lead to remodeling of the skin and more elastic skin with reduced pore size.
Medical needling can also help with acne scarring (but only once all active acne has been successfully treated!). Other localised skin depressions like chickenpox scars are also good candidates for medical needling.
This treatment is performed over a course of three to six sessions at six to eight week intervals. Medical needling can be used on all skin-types, including black skin. However if you suffer from overgrowing scars (keloids), medical needling should not be performed.
If you’re interested in how medical needling might be able to reduce the size of your pores, or reduce scarring, You can call us. We’re also always happy to discuss treatment options suitable for you.
