Wart treatments have been available for a number of years. Wart treatment for younger children has included the use of salicyclic acid and topical wart removal creams or ointments. Wart treatments for older children and adults include the use of liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen treatments for warts require numerous treatments over a period of weeks or months. This method of wart removal can work well but the chances of recurrence are also high. Recent studies show that reinfection can occur as a result of wearing the same socks and shoes. More recent advances in wart removal treatments has seen the use of lasers to remove warts. Stubborn warts can be removed with lasers and also plantar warts can be removed with lasers. Increasingly, today, we use lasers to destroy warts with greater success. Wart removal with lasers is also a shorter treatment as only one or two sessions are required for the treatment.
