What are Restylane, Restylane Fine Lines, Perlane, Juvederm and Teosyal?
These products are made of a stabilized hyaluronic acid that is produced biosynthetically. Hyaluronic acid exists naturally in the body and its purpose is to bind water particles.
What is Evolence?
This is a Collagen based filler that is longer lasting that is used in our office.
How is it used?
All three products are used for different purposes and effects and in general the only difference between them is the size of the particles used. The products are injected into the skin using a fine needle. In some cases a local anaesthetic is used. A treatment takes approximately 30 minutes and effects are seen quite quickly.
Which areas can be treated?
In general all three products are used in the lower 2/3 rds of the face, mainly for lip enhancement, wrinkles and folds around the lips and nose. They can also be used for correcting folds and wrinkles on the forehead and also for crow’s feet. A judgment as the best choice of treatment is made at the time of assessment.
How long do Restylane, Restylane Fine Lines, Perlane, Juvederm, Teosyal adn Evolence Breeze last?
The length of the effect of these products is very individual and is very much dependant on the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age. Effects in general last 6 to 9 months, in some cases as long as 1 year.
Evolence Breeze tends to last much longer around 1 year at least.
Are there any side effects?
There can be some side effects mainly related to the injection as opposed to the product such as swelling, pain, itching, discoloration or tenderness and sometimes redness. Typically these disappear within a day or two after the injection and within a week after injection to the lips.
