Photofacial Treaments

Photofacial Treatments help a Variety of Skin Conditions

What is a photofacial?

A Photofacial or FotoFacial is a wide ranging term that is used to describe treatment of the skin using a light based device.  It can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions like brown spots, red spots, broken capillaries , stimulating collagen, loose skin and skin tightening. The photofacial treatments can be 1-4 treatments depending on the device used and may need to be repeated on a yearly basis. Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is used for photofacial treatments and generally we see that packages of 5 to 6 treatments are required on a yearly basis.

There are many different types of devices that are available for photofacial treatments and generally these are

  1. Lasers
  2. Intense Pulsed Light
  3. LED (Light Emitting Diodes)

At BC Laser we prefer to use lasers and LED treatments for our photofacial treatments. We have found that there is a significant risk of darkening of the skin ( hyperpigmentation) with IPL treatments, particularly over the long term.

At BC Laser we use Lasers at different wave lengths to give our photofacial treatments and we  tailor our photofacials for the individual person. If someone has a large amount of redness than we can first target the redness prior to addressing other concerns on the skin. The end result is smooth, glowing radiant skin for men and women of all skin types. At BC laser we cater to all skin types for our photofacial treatments.

An LED photofacial is a very gentle treatment that uses narrow spectrum light to boost collagen, which creates plumper, younger-looking skin, or to kill the bacteria that causes acne. This type of photo facial works for someone who wants a less intense treatment.

LED photo facials are painless, cool and relaxing, and  carry no risk of burning. The best results come after a series of LED photo facial treatments. To begin, a series of six weekly treatments are recommended. After that, maintain with a treatment every month or two. It can be part of a facial or a stand-alone treatment. This painless gentle treatment takes less than 5 minutes with results gradually building over time.

LED photo facials are a good choice for people who want to boost collagen or treat acne. Their collagen-boosting, facial rejuvenation properties have been proven with medical research. The results won’t be as dramatic as plastic surgery, but it’s a gentler, more natural, less expensive way to go.

Photo facials work best in conjunction with a regular skin care routine that you develop with your medical esthetician at BC LASER.
